The wait is finally over. We have officially released our first patch. It’s not a complete patch, but there’s quite a bit of content to keep players busy while we work on the next one. The patch can be downloaded from the project page.
SaGa 3 Patch v0.2.612 Released.
Menu Patch Gets Upgraded
Rather than referring to our patch as the “Menu Patch” we’re going to go with version 0.2. The reason being is that Easton West and cidkramer have been hammering out the main script to the point that the patch is far more than a menu patch. When the patch becomes available on Friday, we’ll have translated the Past, Present and Future! Far more than what we had originally planned. Unfortunately not all the missions will be done in time for release but we’ll try to include as many as we can. The focus at this point has been on the main script, which is the most important.
SaGa 3 Progress Update
Things continue to go well, especially the last couple of weeks. Almost all the menu text is now translated except for a few things which are being worked on right now. The graphics are almost done as well with just a few left to do and some touch ups. We were aiming for a release by the end of the month, but it might not be until the new year. Originally our goal was to provide a “menu patch” but it has grown to include more to help non-Japanese reading players to play through the game with the help of an English walkthrough. While adding extra content means it will take longer to get the patch out, it will be worth the wait. Our testers are currently testing the beta patches they’ve been given and once we’re satisfied with the work we’ll make a public release.
Here’s what you can expect in the first patch we release:
- All menu text (items, monster notes, story notes, etc) except for the sub event (free scenario)
- All battle text
- All the graphics
- All the tutorials (Pink Slime, in-battle, etc)
- Main story up until the Northern Tower, possibly more.
Happy holidays!
New members and progress update.
cidkramer has joined our team as the script editor. cidkramer was the editor for the SaGa 2 translation project. Secret Skeleton, Velosify and Alxprit have also joined the team as testers.
Things have been going incredibly well lately with lots of translation work being done. Some preliminary formatting and editing has started but the bulk of it will be done by cidkramer once he settles in. Once the editing has been completed testing will begin and then a patch will be released.
Speaking of a patch, the first patch will be a “menu translation” patch. This patch will have most of the menu text and graphics translated along with the various tutorials in the game, including the tutorials from the Pink Slime. At this time there is no hard date for the menu translation patch, but our goal is to get it out by the end of the year, however we’re making no promises. Once we have a release date in mind, we’ll be sure to let you know.
Wow An Update!
We’re not dead! In fact the pace has started to pick up. The summer months were very busy for most of the team so thank you for your patience. Most of the menu text has been translated and some preliminary work on the script has begun. We’re planning on releasing a patch with the menus, tutorials and graphics translated, but at this time we do not have a target date, except for before the end of the year. Once a date becomes more clear it will be announced.

New Member and Status Update
Easton West has joined the team to help with the translation. He worked on SaGa II as a former member of Crimson Nocturnal. We’re looking forward to working with him to get the game translated as quickly as possible.
July was a pretty slow month and August probably isn’t going to be much better. Everyone is busy with other stuff so there hasn’t been a lot of work done on the game. Fear not, the game will get finished, it just won’t be by the end of the summer. In the mean time, kick back and enjoy what’s left of the summer.

Summer is here so we’re all very busy doing real life stuff so having extra help will improve progress during the time when people want to be outside more than in. ;)
